International Village Education is looking to recruit a School Secretary for its Gloucester campus.

An extremely important role in the school, the secretary must have excellent communication skills and must have a sense of humour. They must be calm in the face of chaos, great at problem-solving, a hands-on optimist and enjoy rolling up their sleeves and mucking in.

General administrative duties

Keeping manual and computerised pupil records up-to-date.
Providing administrative support to the Principal as and when required. 

Managing office and classroom stationery.

Providing administrative support for extended school activities and clubs.

Overseeing and managing school letting administration.

Maintaining filing systems.

Answering incoming calls and taking appropriate messages, greeting visitors and guests, preparing letters, typing and other IT based tasks, photocopying, filing, faxing, collating and distribution of information to parents, staff, governors and members of the public

Taking an active role in administrative duties in preparation for school events

Assisting in maintaining a tidy welcoming and safe school environment.

Any other duties required by the Principal within the scope of this post.

General Office Duties Shared responsibilities

  • Working effectively as part of the Administration/ Office team providing support where required 
  • Answering telephone, taking messages and monitoring answer phone messages
  • Receiving visitors 
  • Liaising with staff, pupils and parents when required
  • Assisting with school mailings 
  • Attending insets as required 
  • Experience and Skills

  • Computer literacy (particularly Microsoft Office applications) 
  • An excellent telephone manner 
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and manage tasks 
  • An eye for details and accuracy
